**UPDATES ARE AT THE BOTTOM**
5:33:25 AM: Had to get up at 5am. Got an hour of sleep. Why induce at 7am instead of 10am? *WAY* too early.
5:37:17 AM: Not even the dog wants to get out of bed. That's when you KNOW it's too early.
6:44:53 AM: At hospital. Checklist: Book. iPod. Laptop. Headphones. Suitcase. Wife? Umm...
6:50:28 AM: Found wife. Was in registration department. I almost had a really short day. Oh well.
6:59:06 AM: Got a room. Checklist: Television. Recliner. Private bathroom. Laptop desk. Awesome. No power outlet by desk? WANT NEW ROOM!
7:10:21 AM: Oops -- IV time. Bet the cafeteria's good this time of morning. Exit: stage right...
7:56:34 AM: Breakfast done. Emails sent. Time to head back upstairs.
8:18:25 AM: Met three nurses so far -- none of whom will be our nurse for today. Makes it hard to keep track of people. :P
8:18:59 AM: Wife left prenatal records in the car. I get to be the errand boy. YAY! BRB.
8:22:47 AM: Yet another (slight) change of plans. Starting the induction medication early. Ren's not thrilled.
8:41:06 AM: Hmm. I guess we should probably come up with a name for this guy, huh? Any suggestions?
8:50:18 AM: Blood being drawn. Retreating to the Coke machine (blood doesn't bother me; needles do).
8:54:16 AM: Back. Ren says they didn't draw the blood yet. Problem with her bracelet being scanned (yeah, right). I know she's messing with me.
8:56:46 AM: Crap. She was serious. Back to the Coke machine again. [sigh]
9:02:08 AM: @arjcandyman (RE: Names: Luke, Han, Chewie, Ben, Anakin) No Star Wars. Dog's named Kessel -- that's as much as I'm gonna get.
9:03:39 AM: @arjcandyman (RE: Names) Donnie = Osmond. Ben = from Lost. Tyler = too close to friend's name, Taylor. Ash = burnt. Apollo = Creed.
9:32:07 AM: Mild contractions so far. I shouldn't have gotten the sausage for breakfast. Oh, and Ren's fine.
9:55:10 AM: Working on when to get the epidural now. Bet it'll be soon, based on how shes feeling.
10:10:59 AM: Standing in the hallway while she gets the epidural. It's taking long enough...
10:37:31 AM: So about this TV... Single, corded remote. Single button to change channels. Yes, you cycle through them all...
10:37:44 AM: ...and the sole speaker in the room is in the remote. And the only thing on is Saved By the Bell: The College Years.
10:40:47 AM: "Just think honey, in a few more hours, you won't look fat anymore." Hmm. The epidural hasn't affected her throwing arm at ALL.
10:55:36 AM: Props to @thisismash for creating the Twitter-to-Wordpress plugin making this live blog possible. http://bit.ly/4mTR9O
12:41:00 PM: I am hereby done with the cafeteria food other than breakfast. Yuck.
12:51:04 PM: Ren says she doesn't want any pictures. But epidural (plus no sleep) has pretty much knocked her out, so I'm good. Watch this...
12:57:11 PM: Not as knocked out as I'd hoped. Should have waited longer. Camera now busted. Think I brought a spare...
1:01:21 PM: @DynamoSupremo (Pizza) Heh, I may take you up on that! :) @weswilson (Tickle) Okay, tried that. "Stress" isn't what she released...
1:04:32 PM: For the record, most of what I've written here (the camera, the "fat" comment and such) have been me joking. I've been VERY supportive...
1:05:14 PM: ...and while there have been no serious complications, she's been very strong despite some difficulties. She's doing great.
1:05:41 PM: Looks like it's coming soon...
1:25:00 PM: He's here!
1:59:04 PM: Nicholas William Blythe was born at 1321, weighing 8.23 pounds, and stirring up quite a ruckus.
2:29:57 PM: Nick is doing great. Moms desperately craving a cheeseburger and a venti white chocolate mocha from Starbucks.
2:31:15 PM: I really appreciate everybody following my tweets/liveblog today. Seriously. Makes us feel very supported. Thanks!!!

Name suggestions: Luke, Han, Chewie, Ben, Tyler, Donnie, Ash, Anakin, Apollo.
Or, how do you feel about Fredo?

I was actually thinking:
Donnie = Darko
Ben = Kenobi
Tyler = Durden (Fight Club)
Ash = Ash from Evil Dead
Apollo = Lee (BSG)
How about something simple, like Chris? As in Chris Knight? It’s a moral imperative.

Yeah, I know the references. But there are also OTHER references, and those (mentioned above) are what people will be more likely to think of.
Besides, would you REALLY name your kid after Tyler Durden?

Name my kid after a person who becomes spiritually awakened to his true potential and realizes the benefits and flaws of that cultural construction known as white-collar masculinity?
Yes. Yes I would. ;)
And hey, Tyler Blythe sounds better than Hannibal Blythe.

You also have to think about initials… TB = Tuberculosis? What do you use as a middle name? anything with an A is out (TAB) could use a D name (TDB= Too Damn Bad!!!)
Posted on April 3rd, 2009 at 9:47 am
Hmm. TDB has potential..

I have found that other than Hot Dogs and burgers hospital food is awful (unless you are truely very very sick…)
And even those aren’t so great!
