LC_012: Someone DIDN’T Like the Premiere…?

Posted by Erik On January - 26 - 2009

Finally! LOST has returned! Surprisingly, one of the three LostChatter hosts did not care that much for the double-header episodes. Which one of us didn't like them? And why not?

After we properly beat that host to a pulp, we take a look at several new questions -- and possible answers -- brought up by the premiere, such as the situation with Locke and Ethan, what's going on with Charlotte, characters' attempts to change the past, and more.

  1. Joe Said,

I still love Lost. I am weary of the direction the time travel could be taking us. Very dangerous territory, that in lesser hands may end badly. I will be tuning in with a peeled eyeball as I heard that the next episode gets alot better.

Great show guys! I was bummed to hear how much Joe did not enjoy the first two eps of this season. I can completely see his point about the difficulty of having time travel in the show – but my reaction was the opposite. I loved both episodes and I am excited about where things are going.

Perhaps an apt comparison might be the Back to the Future films (that you guys brought up). Most people love the first and feel the last two were not very good. It’s as though people accepted time travel in the first only because it never took itself too seriously (Marty was erasing his own existence… but we were just as invested in his parents story) and hated the other two for using time travel as a consistent plot drive – leaving the characters only to react to their surroundings.

I dug all three films – enjoying the crazy time travel elements. Perhaps as a viewer I am far too accepting of plot devices like time travel.

Anyway, I hope you get back on board with enjoying things Joe – you have a ton of good thoughts (going through what Ms. Hawkings was doing with the computer was well thought out and intriguing to me) and it would be a real bummer to continue to hear you disliking this direction.

Yay for time travel! I liked Joe’s theory on tracking through time with the Apple IIe. That’s the best theory I’ve heard about the importance of hitting the button. Great show!

Just watched “Jughead” – methinks Joe is going to hate this season.
