This guy is pissed. Mathieu Kassovitz, director of this weekend's new release Babylon A.D., gave an interview to AMC's SciFi Scanner blog.
I'm very unhappy with the film. I never had a chance to do one scene the way it was written or the way I wanted it to be. The script wasn't respected. Bad producers, bad partners, it was a terrible experience.
He talks about how the scope of the book was amazing, yet the studio has ripped his movie to shreds, eliminating any strong thematic value, and stripping the action scenes of any story or character development. "...instead, parts of the movie are like a bad episode of 24."
He calls it "pure violence and stupidity."
Ouch.
