Welcome to the new site!

Posted by Erik On March - 29 - 2008

Well, technically it's the same site. But it's a new design! I'd like to thank Joe ("BoomRocker") from the Control Point community and the Trailer Trash Talk podcast for the incredible graphics work he's been doing for us and for doing about 99% of the site design.

We've got some more new things on the horizon too! We'll be debuting our new show "MovieChatter" this weekend, along with two new hosts, Kevin and Andrew. Kevin's completely new to podcasting, whereas Andrew worked with RandomChatter back when it was known as Movie Survival Guide. We're thrilled to have Andrew back and to have Kevin join us!

I've always considered the first ten episodes of RandomChatter to be a "beta test" of sorts. We needed a chance to work out the kinks in the show format, audio quality, etc. Now we're quickly approaching that "tenth episode" milestone, and it's exciting to have everything come together and to have things start to flow smoothly!

Thanks for listening! We look forward to entertaining you for many more shows to come!

(...and don't forget to tell your friends about us!)

LC_005: Bring Out Your Dead

Posted by Erik On March - 26 - 2008

This week we tackle deaths, appearances after deaths, and haircuts of the dead. Not everything's so morbid though; we also discuss who's more evil, Ben or Widmore. Nothing like lightening things up with a good dose of evil, right?

It seems to be the week for long podcasts. Probably because I scribbled down some seemingly-simple show notes that erupted into long talking points. To make up for it, we're joined this week by Joe from the Trailer Trash Talk podcast.

(There's a reference to the ending of the Lost: Via Domus game. However, I've edited out almost all of that discussion, and what's left is more of a "tease" than a spoiler, so don't worry. It should be perfectly safe, and it won't spoil the game nor the show.)

RC_007: Second Skin

Posted by Erik On March - 25 - 2008

The documentary Second Skin debuted at SXSW, and this week we've got special guest Eric Fullerton here with us to talk about it! Second Skin takes a look at online gamers and the effect gaming has had on their lives.

Though Eric was involved with the film, he wasn't able to see the film at SXSW (nor were any of us), so we can't really review the film for you. Instead, we talk about our own experiences and opinions of online gaming and how it's affected our own lives and relationships. It runs a bit long, but it's worth it.

Eric is one of the hosts of the Control Point podcast, and he's a member of The Dead Workers Party, of whose podcast network we're a proud member.

RC_006: Summer Movie Preview

Posted by Erik On March - 19 - 2008

In this week's show, Brian and I wade through the sludge of recently-announced remakes and sequels, and we finally get to our Summer Movie Preview! Technically we cover both the spring and the summer, but let's not nit-pick. There are a lot of (hopefully) great movies coming out this year, even aside from the obvious choices such as The Dark Knight and Iron Man. We're bringing you a quick run-down of what to expect.

RC_005: A Cage Full of Tangents

Posted by Erik On March - 10 - 2008

This is why you don't podcast at 2 a.m. Of course, maybe that actually helped the show! We've got all four hosts on this week's news show, and boy do they ramble on. They blathered for long enough that we had to push the Summer Movie Preview segment to next week's show (none of this rambling was my fault, of course).

LC_004: Time after Time

Posted by Erik On March - 9 - 2008

We're changing the show format around a little bit. Rather than doing a recap and review of each episode, we're going to start looking at the major reveals from each episode and looking back over past episodes to put pieces of the puzzle together.

This time around, we look at the reveals brought up in Eggtown (403) and The Constant (404).
