RC_004: And the award goes to… who cares?

Posted by Erik On February - 25 - 2008

That's right, it's Oscar time. This week, after looking at a handful of news items (Deadpool!), we discuss the Oscars. No, we're not going to recap the Oscars. Instead, we're mainly going to complain about Cameron Diaz, talk about how grateful we are that Sean Penn was nowhere to be seen, and be bitter that Golden Compass allegedly had better effects than Transformers.

RC_L03: The Economist

Posted by Erik On February - 22 - 2008

This is the last of our backlog of Lost episodes before we're caught up. Ren joins us this time, as we take a look at this Sayid-centric episode.

RC_L02: Confirmed Dead (402)

Posted by Erik On February - 18 - 2008

We're catching up with the backlog of Lost episodes. Only one more to go!

This time around we've got four new characters to introduce, as well as some speculations of things to come. Our hands are still a bit tied because of upcoming spoilers, but the roller coaster is starting to near the top of the hill, and by the time the third and fourth episodes show up, things should be picking up speed quite nicely.

RC_003: Jumper

Posted by Erik On February - 18 - 2008

It's Anakin Skywalker versus Mace Windu in one last, final, knock-out brawl!

Final, that is, until the inevitable sequel they set up in the film. Oh, and there's not really any knock-out. Or even a brawl, really.

I dare say our review of the movie was more interesting than the movie itself. If nothing else, it was more fun to record than it was to see the movie. But before we get to that, there's news to cover. After all, now that the writer's strike is over, we need to know when our favorite shows are coming back!

Harlan Ellison Infuriated over End of Strike

Posted by Erik On February - 15 - 2008

If you don't know who Harlan Ellison is, this might not interest you much. He's one of the most popular notorious sci-fi writers of our time. If I recall correctly, he wrote the award-winning "City on the Edge of Forever" episode of the original Star Trek series. He seems to be friends with everyone who's anyone within the sci-fi community. Most importantly, he's got a big mouth, and he's not afraid to use it.

There's a post at Ain't It Cool News that gives his opinion of how the Writer's Guild just got screwed by the studios. It's pretty interesting, but it's also very colorful; this is NSFW (not safe for work).

RC_L01: The Beginning of the End

Posted by Erik On February - 12 - 2008

Welcome to the first episode of our Lost spin-off series! This was basically a test-run, but it went well enough that I think we're going to go forward with this for the duration of the season. If people like it, we'll do it again for future seasons. This show is part of a separate podcast feed, so you'll need to set it up as a separate podcast subscription. I've included a separate link on the right side of the website, and you can click on the link below to subscribe via iTunes.

[EDIT: The iTunes store is still generating the iTunes link for this podcast. Check back soon for the "subscribe" link.]

RC_002: Spoiler-Free, for Wes

Posted by Erik On February - 10 - 2008

We've been "under construction" a bit here, so it's been a few weeks since we've had a show posted. However, we're back on track now, with a new website we'll be tweaking out over the next week, and two new shows to post.

First up, we recap the entertainment news from the past week. Err... last week, in this case, but it's all still relevant. And as a favor to Wes, one of our fellow podcasters over at the Control Point podcast, we've gone spoiler-free for this episode!

EDIT: iTunes was misinterpreting the RSS feed. This has been fixed, but if you didn't get this episode, look at your podcasts in iTunes. You might have to click "Get".
